Myer Community Fund

The Myer Community Fund is committed to building on Myer’s tradition of philanthropic support to the community since 1924.

The Myer Community Fund launched in November 2001 and continues this great tradition of caring.

The Fund is dedicated to supporting “innovative projects for children and youth which enrich their life experiences and allow for the daily comforts and security normally afforded to most families” and projects which support Women’s Health.

Over the next 3 years we aim to raise of $6 million for charity, with 100% of the net proceeds from all fundraising activities directly benefiting the community.

Each year the Myer Community Fund works with over 80 Charities.

Each March every Myer store nominates a local charity and the store team members raise funds for their nominated organisation and specific project relating to Children and Youth or Women’s Health issues.

At a National level funds are raised through the sale of specific Icon Products and special events. Icon Products include the Spirit of Christmas CD. National Fund Raising Events such as the Precious Metal Ball raise funds for a specific fund or cause.

The Myer Community Fund has announced a four-year $1 million partnership with the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre Appeal (ONJCWC).

The Board of the Myer Community Fund has nominated the ONJCWC as the beneficiary of the Precious Metal Ball for the next four years, with proceeds from the annual gala event going to the facility.

Olivia Newton-John said she is delighted that the Myer Community Fund is so generously supporting her Cancer and Wellness Centre Appeal.

"The Myer Community Fund $1 million donation will help the Appeal move closer to creating a truly comprehensive cancer centre to help change the way the whole person is treated," said Ms Newton-John.

Charities Supported in 2007

The Myer Community Fund held its annual Precious Metal Ball on Friday 22nd February 2008, with proceeds going to the Life Education Australia’s Medicine Matters 4th-5th Year of Schooling Program and the Myer Community Fund.

The gala evening was held at Sydney’s Big Top Luna Park attended by 650 guests and emceed by personality Sonia Kruger.

Entertainment and glamour were aplenty at the Ball as the “Style Police” kept an eye out for anyone seeming to commit a fashion faux pas. Marty Coffey, Australia’s American juggler took to the stage delivering a fun packed performance. After all the formalities were taken care if it was time for the Young Diva’s to perform and they instantly had everyone up and dancing, leading the way for the DJ who then kept the music pumping and guests dancing into the early hours of the morning.

The event proved, once again, to be a huge success raising a total of $491,274.95.

“This is our fourth Precious Metal Ball and the Myer Community Fund Board Members would like to thank Myer’s trade partners, all Myer staff and many of the friends of Myer who contributed to a fantastic result with a total of $491,274.95 being raised. Thank-you!”
